Feb 02, Casey Hickman rated it really liked it This author is very vivid in her mystery writing. Sep 09, Grace rated it it was amazing My audio review. Story: 4. Even with that knowledge, my impressions of them changed greatly with this book.
For Sara, I always had these perfect images of her time with her husband Jeffrey. This book, which highlights their time divorced and still working thru their issues, gave me a different perspective, of the man who My audio review.
This book, which highlights their time divorced and still working thru their issues, gave me a different perspective, of the man who held her heart before Will Trent came into the picture. And all I can say is that I think Will was an upgrade.
For Lena, I never liked her, to put it bluntly. But holy hell, this book definitely has me sympatric for what she goes thru. Lena always has a hard edge and cold demeanor. That was no different in this book, as she barely waits 10 minutes before blaming Sara for something that was in no way her fault. But through the course of events, as the killer ups the ante, you may find yourself in the same boat as me, struggling with new unexpected feelings. Backtracking a bit, this story is the first book in the Grant County series and takes place prior to Sara moving to Atlanta.
Sara is the center of this story, not only finding the first victim, but then being forced to be part of the investigation and work with her ex to help solve it. From there, with each additional victim, Sara begins to feel this killer may have ties to her past. How deep those ties run, takes time to be revealed.
As always, this author lays out the plot in such a way that the killer only becomes clear when she wants it to be. Cringe worthy indeed. Very cleaver. She has perfected the voice of the victim, which makes these stories all the more bone chilling and believable. Overall: 4. And I gained a lot more respect for Lena.
